This year’s Class AA Boys State Golf Championship took place at Cattail Crossing Golf Course in Watertown, SD. A total of 18 teams competed in the tournament, which lasted from Oct. 7 to Oct. 8. Six students represented the O’Gorman Knights at the State Championship: Taten Mauney (junior), Jayden Antonen (junior), Drew Simon (sophomore), Zach Greble (junior), Nick Simon (sophomore), and Carson Edwards (junior). The O’Gorman Knights achieved 5th place as a team, finishing with a final score of 13 over par.
In the individual competition, two O’Gorman golfers finished in the top 10. Taten Mauney tied for 4th place with a score of three under par, and Drew Simon tied for 10th place with a score of even par.
A close team dynamic made the end of the season momentous for the Knights. “It was a memorable year bonding, and playing with this team,” said senior James Heiman.
In the end, the Watertown Arrows took home the championship with a final team score of seven under par. The individual state title went to Ty Lenards, a junior from Watertown who finished with a score of eight under par.
It was a great competition, and the Knights ended their season well through a team effort of hard work.
