Hi everyone! It’s officially November, which means that the leaves are starting to fall, it’s getting darker earlier, for seniors, early applications are due, and sadly for O’Gorman this year, football season is over. As much as I have loved dressing up for the football games and cheering on the Knights with my friends, being a Senior at football games is a little stressful. As someone who tried to get front row at most games, to truly feel like a senior and hope to win a prized “Fan of the Game Shirt” (I finally got one at our last game), I can honestly say that front row is a little overrated. Sometimes, it’s just as fun to be a little more spaced out in the second row, rather than get involved in the drama of everyone cramming in the front row. That way, you’ll at least have room to cheer!
As a Senior, I am still trying to decide on where to attend college next year. Throughout October, I have had the opportunity to visit three of my top schools: Iowa State, University of Iowa, and University of Nebraska. While at each one I had a great time, I am nowhere closer to making a decision! Because of this, I do not have much advice yet on how to pick a school, but I know I have time to make my decision. My one piece of advice from having older siblings would be to not wait to put housing deposits down at any school you are interested in! Most of the deposits are partially, if not completely, refundable, but at many universities, housing is not guaranteed for all freshmen. The earlier you get to put your deposit down, the sooner you’ll get to choose where you’re living and the more options you’ll have. So, even if you’re not one-hundred percent sure about where you want to go, get that housing deposit in so you can have the best opportunity for getting good housing!
