Tuan Vu, a junior here at O’Gorman, came to America for the opportunities, education, and a chance to grow.
Originally from Vietnam, Tuan came to live with his aunt and uncle who migrated from Vietnam a few years ago.
In America, “getting a haircut and trying to get exactly what I want,” Tuan says, is one of the hardest things to get used to. Going to a completely new country and having your entire style of life flipped upside down is something that not many people think about.
Tuan enjoys watching “The Umbrella Academy” and being outside in his free time. Vietnam has many outdoor activities and opportunities so participating in them here has brought him a sense of home. However, he will miss the cherry blossom trees that South Dakota has not seemed to get yet.
In the future Tuan does plan on living in the United States. He feels America is a better country and having citizenship here makes it a lot easier to travel places. This is important considering traveling is another favorite of his.
Taun has enjoyed O’Gorman and continues to practice his English and find new things to do in America every day.
