The 2024-2025 O’Gorman Gymnastics season is underway! The season lasts from early November to mid-February, and the gymnasts are excited to be back in the gym. After spending the month of November in preparation, the competition season has officially begun.
On Dec. 3, the O’Gorman gymnasts had their first meet at Wings Gymnastics Academy. The competition included the Harrisburg Tigers, the Roosevelt Rough Riders, and the Jefferson Cavaliers. The Harrisburg Tigers finished in first place with the O’Gorman Knights placing second.
This past Saturday, Dec. 8, the varsity gymnasts competed at the Pierre Invitational. Twelve teams were present, and the Lady Knights placed seventh with a team score of 130.40. Klaire Oehlke, a senior for the Knights, placed 8th in the All Around.
Gymnastics competitions are held in various locations across the state of South Dakota. At each meet, the number of teams can range from a duel to twelve teams or more. Major upcoming competitions include: the Metro Conference which will be held at Lincoln High School (Jan. 30th), the South Dakota High School State Qualifier which will be held at Watertown High School (Feb. 8th), and the South Dakota High School State Championship which will also be held at Watertown High School (Feb. 14-15).
As the season continues to progress, the seniors have embraced their leadership role. “I am excited to see what we can accomplish” says senior Teagan Lynch. “This season is about stepping out of our comfort zones, having fun, and growing in friendship as a team.”
With the majority of the season still to come, the O’Gorman gymnasts will continue to work hard. Together, they form one team–a team that is anchored by friendship, perseverance, and faith.
