The Sarah Nitz Memorial Award is a statewide award that is awarded to one senior gymnast. The award honors the life of Sarah Nitz, an incredible O’Gorman gymnast who passed away in a car accident in 1994. This year’s award was presented by Lana Bauer-White, Sarah’s former coach and a current assistant coach for the O’Gorman Gymnastics Team. The recipient of this year’s award was O’Gorman’s senior, Kathryn Pellicotte.
As the season came to a close, the O’Gorman gymnasts were grateful for the time they had together. “It was so special to see the love each and every one of us has for each other. This season is the one I’ll remember and cherish the most,” senior Teagan Lynch said. The motto of “Doing it for the team” resonated throughout every practice and competition, and it will continue to be a resounding theme for O’Gorman Gymnastics in the years to come.
