The Lady Knights’ softball team started practice on Monday, March 17th. This year, the team consists of 18 girls. As they set their sights on the 2025 season, coach Michael Hight said they, “hope to come together as a team and put a product on the field that the O’Gorman community can be proud of.” The team’s biggest competitor seems to be Harrisburg, as they are very talented at the plate.
Freshman Laila Noonan loves to play softball with her friends. She says “I love all the seniors, but Mary Koch is the most influential to me because she plays all the same positions as me, and is such a great player.” She is most excited to go out of town for games and for bus trips!
After playing softball for 11 years, senior Mary Koch said, “My favorite memory was definitely state last year! I got to room with three amazing seniors and had lots of great laughs with the whole team while we were there! Also the bus ride home was filled with tons of off key karaoke and incredible dancing that I will never forget!” According to Coach Hight, the seniors are greatly appreciated: “They understand what the culture and expectations of putting an O’Gorman softball jersey on are, and they set the tone for our work day in and day out.”
The Lady Knights’ first game of the season is at 6pm on April 1st against Washington at the Sanford Softball Complex. Make sure to stop out and cheer on our softball team this season!
