O’Gorman’s class of 2024 includes a great amount of athletic talent. More than a dozen of them have already committed to take their talent up to the collegiate level.
Track and field and cross country are being well represented by the talent at O’Gorman. Ruth Pardy has committed to the Triathlon team at University of Arizona. After helping to win the first ever Knights boys track state championship, Jack Castelli, Kellen Askew and Dominic Ripperda will all be running for Minnesota State, Mankato. Paige Clausen will be pole vaulting at Mount Marty University.
The football team had five players commit to colleges throughout the Midwest. Lathan Wilcox will be staying close to home, playing football at Augustana University. Landen Bartels and Hayden Groos are heading to Northwestern in Iowa. Henry Theobald is taking his talents to the University of North Dakota for football. Ryland Satter will also be heading up north, to play football for North Dakota State University.
Three girls’ basketball players will be representing O’Gorman on the court next year. Lucy Moore will be playing at Northern State University. Aweng Akoi is heading to Southwest Minnesota State University. Mahli Abdouch signed with South Dakota
State University.
Although not sanctioned by O’Gorman yet, the boys club baseball team still dons the O’Gorman name and makes the
school proud. Two Knights players, Hunter Den Boer and Trent Fischer, will be playing baseball for Dakota State.
Tennis, golf and soccer all have O’Gorman representation at the collegiate level next year as well. Cooper Johnson will be playing tennis at Hamline University in St. Paul. Liam Sarmiento will be golfing at Macalester College in St. Paul. Nick North will head out west river to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for soccer.
“I’m super excited but a little nervous to get started on a whole new level of athletics,” Abdouch said.
O’Gorman student athletes show an impressive amount of talent through these early commitments.
