Catholic Schools Week is a favorite time of year for many students at O’Gorman High School because the week is filled with many fun activities, traditions, dress down days and concludes with Mass.
Some traditions change each year; however, one will always stay the same, the annual Catholic Schools Week Mass. At the end of the week, students from the entire Bishop O’Gorman Catholic School System come together to celebrate the Eucharist
as a whole community.
“My favorite part of Catholic Schools Mass is having all the elementary, junior high and high school come together,” Theology teacher Patricia Irvine said.
Each year the district comes up with a theme that the whole Mass is centered around. This year’s theme is “United in Faith and Community.” The theme fits perfectly considering a main part of the tradition is becoming united.
“I like seeing all the schools come together as one,” senior Natalie Dougherty said.
This is a long tradition for the system that most have experienced all twelve years of school. Along with Dougherty, many students believe that being united is one of their favorite parts of Catholic Schools Week Mass.
