This year’s formal looked a lot different. It was initially set to take place in January rather than the usual President’s weekend date in February. The week leading up to formal brought some extremely cold weather, leading to the postponement of the original Jan. 14 date.
After a lot of rescheduling, the new date of formal fell on April 6 at a new location. Monick Yards is located downtown Sioux Falls and was available on the desired date.
The new date and location led to a swift in theme. The new theme was “A Knight in the Secret Garden.” This theme incorporated more spring elements as we neared the summer and the outdoors had begun to green up with the winter melt.
Although the outcome of the formal was not as originally planned, the O’Gorman Student Council still had fun with the theme and had high hopes for the night. “We were really excited to bring back formal in a new light this spring,” said Student Council President Maddie Fritz.
Formal night was an overall success with a majority of the student body in attendance.
