Leon Buzek is a junior at O’Gorman High School. He is a hockey player who currently plays on the Sioux Falls Power 16U team.
Buzek is from Vienna, Austria. He has always had a fondness for hockey and began playing when he was five-years-old.
Buzek enjoys many parts of the game, especially “the part when I have the puck.”
Buzek had the opportunity to play on Austria’s national hockey team this past fall. He was drafted at a camp he was participating in.
Adjusting to the US had its challenges coming from Vienna. “Getting used to the school system and speaking English every day,” Buzek said are the hardest things to get used to in America.
Sophomore Brayden Thompson is a teammate of Buzek’s on the 16U Sioux Falls Power team. “Leon’s biggest asset to the team is his ability to score goals and he is honestly such a positive guy and he just makes everyone around him better,” Thompson said. “He makes me wanna be the best version of myself and I value Leon as a teammate like a brother from another mother.”
The Sioux Falls Power 16U team plays in the national tournament April 5-7 in Las Vegas.
