XC: Putting in the hard work

O’Gorman’s cross-country runners have been hard at work throughout their summer. This season is fascinating, as returning Girls Cross Country Gatorade Player of the Year (2023-2024), Libby Castelli, is eager for another individual state title. Castelli is a D-I commit to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will start in the fall of 2025.

In their first meet this season, senior Evan Mahrous gained a 6th place finish for the varsity boys. Lia Tiangco, Cecilia Christian, and Laney Castelluzzo finished the meet placing 15th, 19th, and 22nd respectively. Both JV boys and JV girls had 4 runners finish in the top 5. The boys received a first place team finish, whereas the girls fell 5 points short to Harrisburg.

When asked about the season, senior Cecilia Christian stated: “We have a very young team and had an amazing first race. I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish this season.”

Hello, my name is Chloe Fritz. I am a senior and it is my first year writing for the Knight Scroll. I write for my individualized column, Cooking with Chlo, as well as some other columns. I have been on the soccer team for five years and engage in other clubs, such as Campus Ministry and Art Club. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, spending time with my dogs and reading in cozy spots.
