After a heartbreaking defeat in the State Championship last season against Lincoln High School, the Knights are fired up and ready to go one step further to win it all this year. They were ranked second in the preseason rankings. Since starting their season in Rapid City on August 16th, the boys have only lost one game, losing to Rapid City Stevens.
This season, the Knights are led by senior Joey Godshall and junior Vincent Radel. They have a new coach this season, Mike Olson, who is the father of two players on the team. He is confident that he can help win this team their next championship.
When asked about the dynamic of his team, senior Tommy Tobin said, “We are very good players individually, but right now the chemistry seems to be lacking.” The Knights have been able to build out of the back and move the ball up on the field, but thus far they have struggled in the final third of the field.
The boys next game is Thursday, September 5th in Yankton. They will hopefully be able to find the back of the net in future games so that they can make their way to the State Championship on October 19th!
