As the O’Gorman Lady Knights basketball team faced off against Brandon Valley last week, emotions ran high heading into the state tournament championship game. Entering as an undefeated team and reigning state champions, expectations were understandably high. Yet Coach Kent Kolsrud remained grounded, never letting past victories cloud his focus. He approached each game one at a time—and taught his players to do the same. Though the team started strong, Coach Kolsrud always believed in striving for more.

When asked about the team’s growth, senior Julia Eggert reflected, “I feel like we grew together as a team and individually. We each learned our roles and improved them every day.” With the team’s motto this year being Looking for More, the girls truly embodied that slogan, showcasing grit, unity, and a hunger to improve with every game, no matter the score.
In the championship game, their perseverance was on full display. Though trailing the entire game, the Lady Knights refused to give up. Heading into the fourth quarter, it seemed like a lost cause, but the team battled back and, in the final 90 seconds, secured a thrilling 47–46 victory over Brandon Valley. It was an unforgettable finish to an incredible season. As Eggert put it, “Basketball is so much more than winning. The win was so, so fun, but what made it special was doing it together.”

This team is truly remarkable. With young talent waiting in the wings, the future remains bright for the Lady Knights. Congratulations to the team on their back-to-back state championships and an extraordinary 50-game winning streak!
