Players are back at it for another season with O’Gorman baseball. Returning as varsity head coach is Dan Hughes. The team has practice two times a week, with some players doing additional exercises in the weight room to improve performance.
Trenton Fischer is a senior at O’Gorman High School. He believes that the weight room is an important part of performance. “Getting stronger in the weight room, it allows for great injury prevention once the season rolls around and it allows me to be as close to 100% every time I step out on the field,” Fischer said.
The team started the season with a 2-0 record on in-season play and a 3-4 overall.
Not only is the sport fun, but it’s also a about the people and the environment. “Something I enjoy most about baseball is being around a group of guys who share a common goal of being successful and wanting to win,” Fischer said.
Along with the characteristics behind each person, there is a certain type of connection one gets from a team like sportsmanship, perseverance and capability; not only out on the field but in their everyday lives.
