Red Velvet Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting
Servings: 24 cookies
Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- Valentine’s themed sprinkles (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ and line baking sheets with parchment paper
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Once cooled, frost the cookies with cream cheese frosting and add sprinkles.
